I smiled as I looked at my sleeping daughter. Her lips twitched and her eyes moved slightly as though she was dreaming. I reached down and brushed a curly strand of her hair away from her eyes. I was a shit father because I barely spent time with my daughter. She knew who her daddy was but that was about it. All I did was give Victoria 5K every two weeks to maintain our daughter and that was basically it. I missed all the important events in my daughter’s life. Her first steps, her first words, the first time she tried solid foods.

I missed it all and frankly I didn’t really feel bad about it because she was better off not having me in her life fucking shit up for her.

Once I made it to Victoria’s apartment, I had to walk her inside because her steps were still a little shaky. Her sister, Vanessa, was watching TV when we got there and she left like five minutes after we arrived. Vanessa didn’t like me much so I knew she was only happy to leave once saw me.

I asked if I could see my daughter before I left and Victoria agreed and walked me to Jizelle’s room. I stayed and watched her sleep for about ten minutes before deciding it was time for me to take my ass home. Walking down the corridor, I stopped at the open door to Victoria’s room and saw her lying on her bed fully clothed.

Shaking my head, I walked inside and looked down at her. Her eyes were closed, her arms were spread out, and she seemed as though she was already deep in sleep with her drunk ass.

“Aye, yuh need to get up and change,” I said, shaking her by the leg. She opened her eyes and looked up at me. Groaning loudly, she pushed herself up from the bed and began stripping out of her clothing like nobody’s business.

I stood back and studied her as she took her pants off, and my eyes looked at her very flat stomach that had a few stretch marks from carrying our daughter. I looked around the room for any evidence of her nigga but saw none. I knew they didn’t live together but he stayed over at her place sometimes.

“Why were you drinking if yuh pregnant?” I asked her as she began taking the front hooks off her corset. She stopped and looked at me with sad eyes.

“Jesus, buy a fucking clue, Reaper,” she answered, dropping herself on the bed. Now seated, she looked up at me in her underwear and corset she didn’t bother taking off.

“The fuck that’s supposed to mean?” I folded my arms and spread my legs wide as I waited for an answer.

“I’m not pregnant. I just said that to Jason because I knew he’d break up with me. I told him the baby was yours,” she mumbled the last part under her breath, but I heard what the fuck she said. Everything made sense now as to why Princess thought I had gotten her pregnant.
