“Cash!” Max bellowed. “She’s hungry. She’s carrying a Redwoode cub.”

“I’m so sorry,” Scarlett said.

“No,” Austin said. “It’s fine. There’s plenty left.”

“It’s destroyed!”

“We’re not entertaining the President,” Grace said. “It’s just family.”

Family.

The word struck Callie hard.

Family.

“I ruined dessert,” Scarlett said.

“Maybe not,” Austin said. He strolled to the sink. He stuck his hand into the pie and lifted up a chunk. “Was this how you ate it?”

“You’re an asshole,” Scarlett said.

“Seriously,” Max said. “What are you…”

Austin threw the piece of pie at his brother. It smacked Max right in the face.

Everyone let out a gasp.

Max licked his lips. “Tastes great. Nice job, Ma.”

“I didn’t even get to taste it,” Grace said.

“Here,” Austin said. He took a finger full and flicked it at his own mother. “How’s it taste?”

“Holy crap,” Cash said.

Scarlett grabbed the messy paper towel off the counter and threw it at Austin.

There was a second pause and then all hell broke loose.

Everyone started to scatter.

Cash ran toward the pie, Austin already had a handful. He threw it at Cash and Cash smacked the pie away. The splatter went everywhere, including hitting Callie in the face. She yelled and then hurried to sneak behind Austin. She slipped her hand under a big piece and looked at it. From the corner of her eye she saw Harper grinning. He gave a nod. Callie was then jumped and reached around, smearing the piece of pie to Austin’s face.

That’s when Cash let out a crying laugh and ran away.

But Callie didn’t move.

She froze and watched as Austin turned. He looked down at her. The sexual tension was so fucking intense. Not to mention the wonderful smell of the chocolate and creme pie. It was so beautiful and perfect.

“He’s pissed,” Max said.

“I am,” Austin said.

“Grab a towel,” Grace said. “Start cleaning this kitchen.”

“Hold on, Ma,” Austin said. Austin leaned down and put his cheek to Callie’s. “I should make you lick all this off me.”

“Try me,” Callie teased.

“We went from fresh salmon to a pie fight!” Grace cried out.

“What a family,” Harper said.

“Scarlett, are you okay?” Max asked.

The words were floating around the air. Everyone in the same world, but a very different world than Austin and Callie.

“Hey, bro!” Cash yelled and pushed at Austin. “Help out. You started this.”

“Actually, Scarlett did,” Austin teased.

Callie couldn’t move. There was pie on her face. On her shirt. On her pants. There was splatters of creme and chocolate all over the kitchen. Cash and Grace were messy but Max and Austin had it the worst.

Scarlett wiped her cheek and licked her finger. She shrugged her shoulders and smiled. “I really don’t care. I’m pregnant. I’ll do whatever I want.” She licked more pie off her face.

Callie stood and watched the four brothers work to clean up the kitchen. They were the biggest men Callie ever saw in her life. She knew they were all the same on the inside though. They were bears. They were men who could shift into bears and then back to men. Stories that Callie had overheard a long time ago.
