Chapter Twenty-One

Things have been going so good, work is going great. Judy really likes Kelli and I can see that she’s doing a wonderful job tending to the flowers and talking to the customers. I helped her study and look over the flowers that we work with before she even realized she got the job. We stayed up all night going over the flowers and now she doesn’t even need to look at the print outs that are by the flowers.

I watch her, I admire her.

“Are you guys more than friends?” Judy asks me, jumping me.

Her voice is so soft behind me and I blush a little.

“I don’t know yet,” I tell her honestly.

“If I were you, I would snatch her up before someone else comes along and takes her.” Judy gives me a wink, letting me know that she’s only kidding.

I laugh with her.

The day is almost over, and we are putting the flowers out back before we lock up. The next thing to do is have her get a car.

I don’t mind riding back and forth with her to work but Kelli looks as if she needs to go places. I see her fidget from time to time when we are at the house.

It would be nice to get up and go when she wants. I would tell her that she could use my car if she wanted to, but I want her to ask me and me not offer it.

“What are thinking about?” Kelli asks me, seeing me standing in the middle of the shop with a hand on my hip and my eyes out the window.

“You.” I blush, looking at her.

“What a great line,” she teases me, rolling her eyes.

“No, I’m serious.” I protest, but she doesn’t believe me which makes my heart flutter even more.

I know that I’m telling the truth. Kelli doesn’t need convincing, but I know that it makes her feel good that she’s on my mind.

I don’t ever catch her staring off, I don’t need to wonder how she feels about me, I can feel it when she touches me, I can feel it when she looks at me and the small things that she does for me.

“Are you about ready?” Judy and Kelli are now both staring at me and my face gets so hot that I feel like it’s the middle of the day with the sun beating down on us.

“Yes, I am ready,” I sigh, walking toward them.

We leave the shop all at once. Judy locks up and then we pull out of the parking lot behind her. The sun is slowly going down.

“You like working with us?” I ask her.

“Yes, I never thought that I could know so much about flowers and how happy people are.” Kelli laughs at me.

“Flowers make people feel good, sometimes it helps when the customers are coming in because they want flowers for a funeral or someone who’s in the hospital. It’s nice to know that when they are looking for the perfect
