I quickly start to walk back to my room after we are let go. I need a minute to process everything, I just experienced. Jade sure seems to know me. I am shocked she found me so quickly after only having thirty seconds or so to study me in the first part of the game. I feel like she must have cheated. Maybe peeked out of one eye, without anyone noticing. Oh, well. I decide to go read through my devotional. I want to be by myself for a minute to relax before I call Chloe to find out what has happened back in Florida. Before I can make it to my room Jade runs up to me, breathless.
âHey, Fiona, wait!â she says hurriedly, in a breathy tone. âLook, I donât know what I was thinking. Being so intrusive with you in your bedroom earlier, okay? I donât want to ruin our friendship. I really value you as a friend here, Fiona. I am so sorry.â
âLook, I get it. Itâs okay. We are all lonely. It makes sense. Donât sweat it, Jade,â I say with a smile.
âIâm not gay,â she blurts out before I walk into my room.
âI know you arenât. I mean, I didnât think you were.â
âOkay. Just making that clear,â she says. âWant to paint together later?â
âYes. Iâll meet you there in an hour and we can paint before dinner. How does that sound?â
âSee you there,â she says before running off down the hall.
I sit down on my bed and flip through the free devotional, I was just given by Dr. Hall. I think about what a hypocrite he must be. Cheating on his wife while preaching about Jesus and about being faithfully and godly. For some reason, every time I think about him with Dr. Clark, I feel queasy. I read a few excerpts from the devotional and decide to close my eyes just for a few minutes. The lithium still seems to make me really drowsy.
When I wake up, I have a puddle of drool on my bed next to me and my face has to be peeled off the comforter. Trisha is now sitting on her bed, reading her usual fashion magazine.
âHave a good nap, bum?â she asks me with a smirk.
âOh God, I was drooling. I am disgusting, Iâm sorry.â
âHa, ha, yeah. You were out cold,â she says. âDr. Clark came in here looking for you, but decided not to wake you when she saw how asleep you were.â
âShe did? What did she want?â I anxiously ask.
âI donât know. She said you were expecting her and grabbed something from a box under your bed,â Trisha informs me.
âWait! What?â I immediately slide out my box of personal things from under my bed and notice all of my letters are gone, along with some other important documents of my father. âShit!â I say.
âWhat?â Trisha asks, concerned.
âThat bitch!â I yell. âIâll be back later.â
I run out of my room and down the hall in search of Dr.
