"Well?" his dad asked anxiously.

Cal pretended like he was bummed out as he walked over to him.

Mike frowned. "See, I told you not to get your hopes up," he said.

"Just kidding! I got it!" Cal exclaimed and held up his permit papers.

Mike laughed and held up his hand for a high five. Cal slapped it.

"Nice. You had me going there for a second."

Cal grinned. "Now you can teach me how to drive."

"Yeah, yeah. You still have to go to driver’s ed."

"I know."

Mike slung his arm over Cal's shoulders as they walked out of the DMV and over to Mike truck. "Look at you. First try. I'm impressed."

"I told you I'd get it."

"Yes, you did. Good job."

They got in Mike's Tahoe and Cal pulled out his phone to text Dakota to tell her the good news. They'd been going out for about a month and a half now and things were pretty serious. He was totally in love with her. He loved everything about her. She was his whole world. They'd been spending as much time together as possible. With his dad working mostly late afternoon and nights, they got to have a lot of alone time. They haven't had sex yet, but they'd done everything else.

"So, everyone is coming over for dinner tonight. I thought maybe you could introduce them to Dakota."

"It's Saturday night. You're not going to the bar?"

"I'm the owner. I can do whatever I want. Carson is there tonight running things. I wanted to have a family night."

Cal shrugged. "Okay. Yeah, I'll see if she wants to come for dinner."

"Great."

When they got home, Cal helped Mike clean up the house. It wasn't filthy, but it needed to be straightened up. It was two guys living there, there were bound to be things lying around.

Dakota got there around three o'clock. They hung out in the living room and played video games while waiting for everyone to show up. Cal's uncle Tommy was the first to show. He didn't bother knocking, he just walked right in.

"Hey! Oooh, heyyy, who's this cutie?" Tommy said with a smirk when he noticed Dakota sitting with Cal on the couch.

"This is my girlfriend, Dakota. Dakota, this is my Uncle Tommy."

Dakota smiled and shook his hand.

"Nice to meet you, Sweetheart."

"Hey! That's my nickname for her, get your own," Mike called from the kitchen.

Dakota blushed. She was so cute when she blushed. Tommy made a face and did the jerk off gesture before walking into the kitchen. Cal and Dakota chuckled when they heard Mike "Oomph" and call Tommy a dickhead.

Next to show were Cal's grandparents. They knocked before walking in. His grandma's eyes landed on Dakota and lit up. Oh man, here came the fawning.

"Who is this sweet young lady here with you, Calvin?" Helen asked.

"This is my girlfriend, Dakota. Dakota, this is my grandma, Helen, and grandpa, Mike Sr."

Dakota got up from the couch and went over to his grandma who pulled her into a hug.

"Oh, it's so nice to meet you, Dakota."

"You too," Dakota said softly.
