Kayden tried to catch her breath when Dvarius stepped back. What had begun as a gentle kiss had quickly deepened into something much more passionate. The desperation she had felt earlier was back again . . . in his kiss.

She opened her mouth to ask him about it, but got no further than the first syllable of his name out before he was kissing her again.

Kayden tried to resist, but she was caught up in the emotions that had been swirling around her since she had arrived at the chapel. She allowed herself to sink into the feeling as her husband gathered her even closer.

“You know, there's plenty of time for that later.”

Dvarius let out a soft growl at the interruption and stepped back, allowing Kayden to catch her breath again.

She couldn't see Marek, but she heard his low laugh from somewhere behind Dvarius.

“Come on, man. After all the work your mother and Catarine put into this, you have to at least show up.”

Dvarius looked down at Kayden and the expression in his eyes sent shivers down her spine, causing the muscles in her stomach to tighten in anticipation. He nodded his head and turned toward his friend with a smile on his face.

“You're right, of course.”

Marek clapped a hand on Dvarius' shoulder as they all moved slowly away from the chapel doors. He led them down the hall in the opposite direction from which Kayden and Catarine had come from earlier.

“Catarine is really anxious about this. We all wish there was more we could do for you. You both deserve a real celebration.”

“The only celebration I need is knowing that Kayden is mine.”

A warmth washed over Kayden as Dvarius answered his friend. Pulling her against him, he wrapped his arms around her as he whispered in her ear, “I can’t wait to be alone with you, Princess.”

A moment later, they turned the corner, coming to another set of double doors. As Marek pushed both doors open wide, Kayden's breath caught in her throat.

Catarine stood beside the Queen, a wide smile on her sweet face. Behind them, the room was decorated more lavishly than Kayden would have thought possible in the quaint chapel.

Beautiful gold, white and silver lengths of fabric hung from the ceiling in an intricate pattern that twisted gracefully from each corner of the room and met in a spectacular explosion of color in the center, showering down around a beautiful chandelier.

To Kayden’s left was a round table, beautifully decorated in white lace and candles. A regal wedding cake, with only five tiers, sat in the center of the table, with a beautiful bouquet of red roses covering the top tier. Dozens of tiny, silver wedding bells were scattered amongst the serving dishes.

Crystal bowls were overflowing with an assortment of gourmet truffles. Champagne flutes were filled to the top with bite-size fruit . . . assorted berries, kiwi, pineapple, topped with creamy yogurt.

The usual fare was there, as well; cold chicken. Quiche. French Onion Soup. Croissants. Nuts. Pitchers of ice water.
