There are many ways to kill someone and never get caught. I knew all about his little drug deal with Pauleen. She just didn’t feel comfortable keeping a secret from me.

At least someone felt that way. I knew exactly where he kept the stash, too. I could run him a bubble bath and bring him a glass of wine filled with the pills he bought off her.

I could sit on the edge of the tub and watch his eyes roll back as the pills he bought to sedate me take over his body like a possession. He would drown and it’ll look like a suicide.

Another way is to catch the apartment on fire and escape while he lies on the bed, again overdosed by those pills I could serve him in sparkling water. My escape would make headline news.

I can see it now. Woman Escapes House Fire and Becomes A Widow. I`d receive donations and gifts by the dozens from strangers all over Chicago. Not everyone is an asshole here. Insurance would cover the apartment and I could be in a new flat in no time.

The ideas spiraled in my mind like voices berating me. Do it. Do it now. Kill him. End this. They taunted me and took over all other noises around. They demanded the forefront over any other thought that would go through my head. Everywhere I turned and everything I did, they followed me around like a shadow.

I wasn’t really hearing voices, though. And I wasn’t really going to kill my husband.

A woman can fantasize, right?
