Did Kinsey kill Cerina?

Yes: 86%

No: 9%

Not sure: 5%

I stared at the latest poll results on the Dirt app, eyes wide with surprise. Since the last poll, the ‘yes’ votes had dropped by 6% while the ‘no’ votes had increased by the same amount.

Being seen with Jax this morning must’ve helped to change a few minds. I’d definitely noticed a distinct difference in how people were treating me on campus. There were far fewer insults thrown at me as I walked past groups of students in the halls between classes, and I hadn’t spotted anyone actively glaring at me for a full hour now.

On top of that, word finally seemed to be spreading about what Jax did to Nate in the bathroom yesterday—along with the junior kid who bumped into me earlier—so the vast majority of male students were giving me a wide berth, presumably frightened of incurring Jax’s wrath.

My new security escort was also doing a good job. She was a tall, well-built woman named Hayley, and unlike the old escort, she actually knew how to do her job. She made sure rooms were safe before I entered them, and she also accompanied me on bathroom breaks to ensure the space was clear of any assholes who might try to attack me. The rest of the time, she quietly hung out behind me, keeping a careful eye on me and others in the vicinity.

“You were pretty engrossed with your phone. Something interesting?”

“It’s the Dirt app poll.” I turned my screen to face him. “A few more people are on my side now.”

“That’s good.” Jax reached for my right hand. “Where do you think we should go? Library?”

“Yeah, that sounds good. Nice and quiet.”

He peered around. “No Erin today? I thought she usually joins you for lunch.”

“She had a Model UN thing,” I explained. I lowered my voice so Hayley couldn’t hear. “I figured that’s probably a good thing, because I haven’t actually told her what we’re up to. I think it might be better if we keep it between us for now.”

Jax nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. It’s probably for the best.”

We chatted about our classes and upcoming exams while we walked over to the library. Once we arrived, we found a cozy spot in the back and spread out Cerina’s schedules on the table in front of us. They looked like scanned copies from a day planner. Each box was meticulously filled in with Cerina’s neat handwriting.

“God, she had so much stuff going on,” I said, brows furrowing as I stared at the November schedule. “Look at this entry. Yoga at 6, breakfast and coffee with Bobbi and Harlow at 7 at a local café, school from 8-3 with a list of all her classes that day, an extracurricular from
