PUNISHING THE LITTLE MERMAID

My eldest sister signs fluently, her excitement evident. She has been back to the cove again, the very center of pleasure.

Her alabaster skin is luminescent in the shafts of light that stream from the sun-kissed surface above. The cove lies far beyond our boundaries, further even then she is permitted to go. It is located on a solitary island the shape of a boot, a haphazard collection of pirates and vagabonds, a breeding ground of excess, violence and the basest of human desires.

It is dangerous. It is forbidden, and that is precisely why I want to see it for myself.

My sister has been meeting a human there for weeks now, delivering in great detail the ‘sex’ and ‘fucking’ she receives, discussing with me in length the ways this human teases out the pearl of pleasure from between her land legs, the way he takes her to new and exciting heights greater than any known to our kind.

We gather in the jeweled grotto and I listen with jealously as the rubies and emeralds sparkle around us.

“You will just observe, from the water only? You have to promise me.”

I hold her hands, giddy. “Yes, I promise.”

“Very well. If it is what you truly desire, I may know a way.”

I journey alone to the witch’s grotto. Down this deep the water grows cold, compressing your bones and drawing your very skin tight. There is little life down here, and what life there is built only for unspeakable horror. This is a land of cannibals, the land of no light.

Using my sister’s instructions, I find the grotto and make my way inside.
