"I did mean that as a compliment, Aristotle," Anita put in hastily.

"And I thank you, Anita. As a flawed mechanism, I find it is indeed warming to my circuits to be considered of value."

Tom laughed and said, "Aristotle, take over the pilot's couch for a while."

"Yes, Tom."

"Let's get something to eat," Tom suggested. "I'll cook."

"Eggs Benedict," Ben said quickly. Seeing Anita's look, he added, "Greatest sauce you ever tasted—if it's done properly."

"They have such a thing on this ship?" Anita asked.

Ben nodded. "You wouldn't believe it. Frozen everything. Natural foods, not processed mud. Remember, this is a commercial ship, not one of those cramped scientific-expedition ones we're used to traveling in. Space is not at a premium here. There's a whole refrigerator full of cheeses. Just cheese!"

The Eggs Benedict turned out to be superb,
