‘I know it doesn’t look as if I’ve got a corset on, but I have! It is a challenge to wear. At the end of the day you’ll see a lot of the female actresses bent over the kitchen table. It’s the traditional method to relieve the corset–you lie face down with your body flat on the table and it takes the strain off the back. As well as the corset I wear an underskirt, petticoat, blouse, skirt, apron and the all-important little hat–I love that hat.’
