It takes me a moment to realize where I am. I try to move my arm, so I can rub my eyes, but there’s a heavy arm pinning mine down.
Last night comes back in a rush. The expensive steak dinner, talking with the investors (which was easier and more fun than I ever expected!), and then… the coat-check room. Damn, Felicia has been right all along! Blake and I didn’t even have, y’know, proper sex, but what he did with his tongue was way, way more than I ever imagined possible! My fantasies have nothing on reality!
“Holy shit,” I mutter, looking around Blake’s bedroom. It’s bigger than my entire apartment! There isn’t much in here, just the bed, night stands, and some abstract art on the walls, but all of it reeks of money. The sheets feel smooth and cool beneath my skin – they are way better than the sheets I bought at the discount store when I moved into my apartment.
I glance over my shoulder. Blake is sleeping behind me, his muscular chest rising and falling as he breathes heavily in his sleep. Asleep, he looks much calmer and approachable than he does when he’s awake. His dark eyelashes flutter as if he’s dreaming.
Why he invited me back here is a mystery. I mean, yeah, we’ve practically had sex a couple of times, but what could a man like him even possibly see in a girl like me? Am I just a conquest, so he can put another notch in his bedpost? There are endless pages of search results about him on Google and they show him with so many different women. Yeah, it seemed like we had a moment in the coat-check closet, but that was just because we’d been fooling around, right?
I carefully slide out from under his arm and out of Blake’s bed. Even the idea that there could be something between us is stupid. Even though I don’t like college and it’s not my first choice for how to spend my days, I’m determined to do what my Aunt Anne wanted me to do. This thing with Blake? It’s just a job. It’s a weird-ass job, for sure, but thinking it could be anything else is pure fantasy. There’s no way I’m giving it up to him, even if he is the hottest man I’ve ever laid eyes on.

“You did what?!” Felicia squeals when I tell her how I snuck out of Blake’s apartment, not waking him up or even leaving a note. “How could you leave Mr. Sexy Suit like that?!”
Now that Felicia has seen the photo of Blake, Veronica Vargas, and me in the gossip column, she’s been surprisingly chill about finding out that Blake is who I’m working for.
“What was I supposed to do? Sit in the corner until he woke up?” I sigh. Neither of us has enough money to go out for brunch, so Felicia has come over and we’re sitting on my bed, eating cereal out of chipped bowls.
