The phone was ringing. Art ran into his apartment and lunged for it. “Hello!”

“Hamm here.”

Art tossed his keys on the counter. He didn’t feel up to dealing with Hamm tonight. It had been a busy day at work and he was getting more and more frustrated that he was dealing with Julia’s secretary—being her gofer—more than dealing directly with Julia. He realized his expectations may have been skewed, but his disappointment was still genuine.

“What’s up, Hamm?”

“Plenty. I need you over here.”

“Over where?”

“My apartment. Got a pen?”

“Now? I had a hard day and—”

“Ooh, I’m crying. Should the world wait while you take a little nap?”

Art sighed. “What’s the address?” He wrote it down on the back of an envelope. “Should I bring Ben along?”

“No!” Hamm's voice calmed. “No, not this time. Come alone.”

Art didn’t like the sound of that.
