My Beloved Husband,

If it is conceivable for me to admit I was unwise, then anything is possible. Can it be that we are both merely willful and obstinate, risking our hard-earned Happiness for the sake of our foolish Pride? Or can it be that there are truly Causes which are greater than we, to which we must sacrifice our Lives together in order to attain a state of Blessedness in the Hereafter? I am no longer certain of anything.

In the days since our parting, I have had time to consider and reconsider all that was said and done. In the absence of My Love, I have discovered that there is nothing so precious to me as his company. Would that I could turn back Time and relinquish my obstinate stand in favor of an attitude more befitting a Wife. In retrospect, it would seem such a simple thing to say what I should have said, to do what I should have done. Would that I had the sight to foresee the Future and the terrible Loneliness that is my only companion in this most dismal and desolate of Towns.

Alas, it is not possible to change what has been done. Neither is it possible for me to admit I was wrong, save in losing you, without branding myself a liar. It is our Fate, I believe, to go on searching until we can truly forgive and be forgiven. I pray it will be soon.

I have found Accommodations at the Mermaid Inn, a lodging house in Fetter Alley between Second and Third Streets, where I expect to stay so long as Fortune and my purse abide with me.
