The following morning Hercules left on his Third Labor. Since Ioalus was forbidden by Eurystheus to accompany Hercules, Ioalus went away to visit his parents. Hercules left instructions I was to be kept at the palace until he returned. But I had no intention on waiting around for him. Who knew how long it would take him to capture the Ceryneian Hind.

Although I had very much enjoyed our night together, the thought of being at his beck and call was not something I aspired to. I would continue to serve the gods the way I’d been brought up to. Therefore, when I told Eurystheus I was leaving, although he made a perfunctory protest, I could see he no more cared if I stayed or went. In fact, I think he relished the thought of Hercules’s displeasure when he returned and found me gone.

I didn’t have much to take with me since I’d come to the palace with nothing. But it was no matter. Where I was going, all I would need was myself.

When I finally arrived at the temple of Aphrodite in the city of Cornith, I knew I was where I belonged. I was accepted as an acolyte but it didn’t take long for me to advance to the level of priestess. I was not only willing but eager to take on as many worshippers as I could.

Men, women. Old, young. Rich, poor.

I satisfied them all and they me.

Looking back now, although I’d fallen victim to the capriciousness of the gods, and I’d even been subjected to the horror of the Hydra, in the end all worked out as it should. Not only was I able to satisfy my darkest desires and lewdest lusts as a priestess of Aphrodite I also became quite wealthy. As for Hercules, I have no idea what happened when he returned and found me gone. I suspect he soon forgot me and found someone else to satisfy his lusts.

For that is the way of men and of gods.
