Using the hill template, define your goal and plan your own trek to success.
Remind yourself of why you want to achieve this goal. Stick this hill somewhere that is clearly visible. During the trek, which may take several weeks, months or years in some cases, you may lose sight of why this goal is important to you.
Make a plan. Think about what experience you already have. What do you need to do? By when? What other tools do you need to help you on your way?
Set yourself mini-goals en route. It is important to celebrate when you achieve each of these. These will help keep you on track, boost your confidence and motivate you during moments of self-doubt.
Imagine deciding to climb Mount Everest â you would rarely do this without sufficient preparation. You would decide what you needed to do, by when, and determine what you needed to bring with you.
You might already have some experience of trekking that puts you in good stead.
You may well have mapped out your route and planned ahead for possible obstacles that come your way.
You might decide to set yourself a series of practice treks (mini-treks) to build up your stamina, increase your confidence and your motivation to tackle your ultimate goal.
All these steps ensure that you are successful in your mission to climb Mount Everest. The goals that you set yourself in life should be no different.
