Kate cleaned up the cabin, talked with Steve, and made a grocery list while she awaited Holly’s return. A few minutes later, the pilot climbed back onto the sloop. “Here’s the stuff. A market is a couple of blocks to the north. And I’ve found a ride to the airport. I’m off.”

Kate hugged her warmly. “Thanks again. I’ll see you back in Sequim.”

Kate followed Holly to the deck and then watched her stride down the dock. What a good woman.

After Holly was out of sight, Kate looked around the cabin as she went back down the companionway. So much to do! She had to call Angie, clean and organize the boat, find some dinner for them, go to the grocery—and she needed to learn more about Steve and what had happened to him since they were last together. She also had to tell him about Angie and the kids. Boy, was he going to be surprised!
