Egil received Ingrid, Viggo, Camu, Ona, and Argi with a big smile. They had just arrived from the Shelter, and Egil had wanted to see them at once. Astrid and Lasgol were with him, and the meeting was behind closed doors so they could have more privacy. They were alone in the throne hall.

“You did it! I’m so happy,” Egil greeted them, stepping down from the throne to hug them.

“Of course we did it. I was part of the mission. How could we not do it?” Viggo replied with his usual self-confidence.

Not be easy.

“That’s what I figured,” Lasgol said, hugging his friends happy to see them again.

Astrid bent down to stroke Ona and Argi, who received the caresses with delight.

“Viggo, tell us everything,” Egil said.

“I’d better sit down, it’s a long story…”

“I was told you almost didn’t make it in Irinel,” Egil told him.

Ingrid turned to Viggo with a look of surprise and consternation,

“You told me it was nothing but a scratch. You didn’t lie to me, did you?”

“Me? Never, it was a scratch.”

“And all this about almost dying?”

“The scratch… was poisoned.”

“Viggo!” Ingrid could not believe it.

“These things happen… but we had Valeria who got the antidote from a Druid woman who spoke very little.”

“I can’t believe it. And you told me nothing,” Ingrid was furious.

“So as not to worry you… it already happened, there’s nothing you could do.”

“Oh, you’re impossible!”

“Let me tell the whole story, then you can tell them about the desert,” Viggo said, smiling like a naughty little boy.

Ingrid managed to calm down, and Viggo told everything that had happened on the mission to Irinel until they reached the desert. Then Ingrid told them what had happened in the desert.

“Valeria and her team did a great job, from what I hear,” Egil said.

“They were all impressive, all of them, and the flirty blonde most of all. I owe her my life,” Viggo acknowledged, “I won’t forget that.”

“I won’t either,” said Egil.

“Or I,” Ingrid joined them.

“You took many risks to come back…” Egil told them.

“The dragon wasn’t going to leave the Pearl. They’re all positioned like sentries,” Viggo said. “And I couldn’t stay underground any longer.”

Under red rock.

“It’s the same.”

“Aibin had a good idea and we took advantage of it. At the Shelter there’s one dragon, but it couldn’t locate us. Loke got us out of there,” Ingrid told him.

“It’s too risky, having to move around like that. We have to finish off the dragons that watch the Pearls.”

“Do we have the mitts ready? Viggo asked.

“We do,” Egil nodded. “Enduald has almost finished making them.”

“That’s wonderful,” Ingrid cheered up.

“We have to try them on a lizard,” Viggo was delighted.

“And we will. Soon. Now go and rest. I’ll call you once everything’s ready and we’ll start our next mission.”

“Killing Dergha-Sho-Blaska?” Viggo asked.

“Killing Dergha-Sho-Blaska,” Egil said, nodding.
