â Good evening sir, sorry for keeping you waiting,â it was Dev Raj. Being closer to the device, his voice echoed loud and clear.
âFirst things first, nothing can be leaked to media. Nothing. Your officers trustable? Give them strict orders to keep their mouths shut. All doors and windows lead to me, and me only, is that clear?â It was Swamyâs voice, slightly fainter as he probably sat across the table.
âSure, sir, donât worry at all. Here are the files.â
âAnd stay away from Vikramaditya. I will handle him.â
â Sure, sir.â
âWait for my instructions to proceed.â
âSir, I am planning to raid some confirmed sleeper cells tomorrow morning.â
âDidnât you hear, what I just said officer. No movement from us. We watch. They will make the first move.â
âBut sir do we have enough time to wait and watch? We have no inside info. If we strike first, they might be forced to change their plans and make mistakes.â
âYou fool, they are working on a deadline. Multiple groups, with multiple different project plans are on it. They all are given their individual time of blast. All teams prepare to carry that out. If the first team fails, the second team gets into action, if they fail, then the third one and so on. No team knows where the others are. There is no way you can obstruct their freeway. Itâs like Chinese army, they bloody keep coming at you walking over their own dead soldiers.â
âSir, of course your knowledge on this is much deeper than mine but where do they get orders from? Somebody must press the button, noâ
âThe lever has been pulled officer, or going to be pulled within the next few hours.â
âSo, we can stop them if we can locate the final "go"?â
âThatâs hypothetical and impossible. Never have been done in the history of terrorist attacks. You just follow my orders and wait. Now go.â
"Sure, sir, thanks sir."
Vik glanced at the screen and he could see a red dot moving through the building towards an exit.
As he was watching it, his mobile rang. It was an independent number, he picked up. It was Secretary Swamyâs voice.
âI hope you are not dozing off officer? " said Swamy.
âGood evening sir, yes, wide awake sir.â
âLetâs cut to the chase officer, I want you to play a major role in this Operation Red.â
âBut sir you straightaway dismissed my request earlier.â
âSituation demands one of our own men to be in the deep shit. You volunteered, so I had a rethink to give you a chance to glory.â
âItâs your call sir, your command, I am at your disposal.â
âNow listen, your task is to keep an eye on ACP Dev Raj. I donât trust these civilians.â
"Neither do I, sir, but you made him the team leader yourself," Vik beamed a full wide grin.
"That was to get him to co-operate, but he is clearly not. So, tag him, track him, use whatever of your RAW tricks, I need eyes and ears on him."
"Iâm on it, sir."
"I can feel the joy in your voice, know your history with the guy, this is your chance to go one up officer.
