Laughton pulls off the main road at 8:42 exactly and enters a large car park surrounding a strange-looking building with a curved roof. She cruises up and down the packed rows looking for a space, surprised by the number of cars. The systematic budget cuts that had slimmed down the London Metropolitan police force had seemingly not affected this place at all judging by the number of people working here. She spots an empty bay, backs the hire car into it then shimmies out, hugging her laptop tightly to her chest as she heads toward the building with a curved, blue roof that makes it look like a big, plastic rowing boat that has been upended. She pushes through the entrance door into a reception area with a large board listing the building’s occupants that solves the mystery of the packed car park:
