Chapter 8

Tamieka struggled to move under a heavy weight, which seemed to hold her down. Opening sleep-filled eyes, she saw that the weight was a man’s arm. She slid out from under it carefully as she turned to look at a sleeping Jesse.

I need to get back to my girls. This was fun, but I can’t leave ‘em hanging, she told herself with a smile.

She stood up and gathered her clothes. She quickly dressed and grabbed her shoes. Trying to sneak out, she saw the fake ring sitting on the table, smiled and shoved it into her purse.

That’ll make for a great story someday.

As she put her shoes on her feet, she stumbled over his shoes on the floor and made a noise that awakened Jesse.

“Were you going to leave without saying goodbye?” he asked.

“I need to get back to my girls. We leave today. I had an unbelievable time with you,” she offered.

“I had a great time, too. Here, let me give you my number.”

He grabbed pen and paper, scribbled down his information, and handed it to her.

Doing the same, she handed him her number. “We should do this again sometime,” she said airily. She kissed him on the cheek and quickly made her way out the door before he could say anything else.

Outside his hotel, she hailed a taxi and told the driver, “The Bellagio Hotel, please.”

When she arrived, Tamieka deposited a twenty into his hands and hustled on inside. Once inside her room, she leaned up against the door and took deep breaths as she realized she was still drunk. Seeing that her friends were still sleeping, she stumbled into her room, stripped off her clothes and climbed into bed.

Whitney and Tierra were standing next to Tamieka’s bed as she opened her eyes a few hours later.

“Details!” Whitney said adamantly. “Tell us everything, girl! I can’t believe you were out all night!”

“Yes, spill it, sister,” Tierra said happily. “Did you guys finally have sex?”

Whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. What fun, though.

“I don’t remember a whole lot about what happened last night. We were both so wasted!” Tamieka said, hoping they would buy some part of that story.

“I don’t believe a word of it. Now, out with it. What happened after we left you there with Mr. Wonderful?”

“He proposed as a joke and we hooked up. There, I said it,” Tamieka revealed to her friends as they sat on the bed and got quiet.

“How was he?” Whitney asked.

“He proposed?” Tierra asked sweetly.

“Yeah, with this giant fake diamond. It was all in good fun. Some parts of the night are hazy. Maybe I shouldn’t have mixed all that hard liquor.”

“Did you at least get his number?” Whitney asked.

“Yeah, he gave me his number before I left,” Tamieka replied.

“You better call this one!” Tierra demanded.

“I will, I will,” Tamieka said trying to stave off Tierra’s nagging.

“Really, this time you’d better call him. I Googled him!” Tierra teased.
