Chapter 5

They didn’t even make it to the bedroom. Cassandra hardly had the time to linger on the grandeur of Adrian’s manor as he ushered her into the kitchen, tossing his coat carelessly on the floor. She might have protested – the garment had to cost a mint – but he was already lifting her onto the counter, his mouth finding hers hungrily.

A low moan escaped her as his tongue slid against her own, and she arched against his massive form, wanting nothing more than for him to subjugate her – utterly and completely. The desire was so foreign from the control that she sought in her everyday life that it should have frightened her. She should have fled from Adrian’s imposing manor and all his wealth screaming in terror.

But she was entirely concerned with screaming for other reasons. She inhaled sharply as he parted her legs to slide between them. The gesture hiked her dress up high on her thighs, exposing her white cotton panties. The quickly moistening fabric was a completely insubstantial barrier between them – and the moment Adrian’s erection butted up against her, she gasped.

Tearing his mouth from hers, he groaned lowly, working her dress from her shoulders until the full globes of her breasts were exposed. “Dear fucking God…” he breathed in her ear, making her shiver. “I missed this.”

It was quite the admission for a man who had only been with her one night previously, but simultaneously, it was also one of the most romantic things one had ever said to her. He’d missed her. Certainly, he meant fucking her, but at the moment, Cassandra hardly cared. She reached for him, kissing Adrian again with all the pent-up want of a week’s worth of frustrated nights. It was funny – before she met him, she had had no problem pleasing herself. But now, knowing what Adrian and those devastating hands of his could do to her…all she wanted was for him to turn her into a messy puddle on the kitchen floor. “Lie back,” he commanded lowly, pressing her to lie down on the cold marble countertop. But she hardly had time to shiver.

The moment she lay flat, her legs dangling over the edge, Adrian slid the silk confection she’d worn to dinner down and off her to join his coat on the kitchen floor. For a long moment, he merely stared down at her, his dark gray eyes gleaming with wicked intent. Then, he hooked his index finger in the hem of her underpants before slowly dragging them down her legs.

He placed his large hands on either one of her thighs, his gaze never leaving hers. “Spread.” Cassandra swallowed thickly at the lust that coursed through her, doing as he asked. Already, she was wet enough that her thighs were covered in a thin glaze of her leavings. Still staring directly into her eyes, Adrian slowly lowered his head until she could feel the warmth of his breath against the sparse curls between her legs.
