TWENTY-EIGHT MINUTES LATER I was loitering outside of Lee's room, waiting for a reply to my text announcing my presence at his door. For some reason I kept looking around, expecting other hotel guests to jump out of their rooms with judgy looks.

The door swung open. Hastily I shoved the phone in my jeans pocket. "I'm not sure if this is the best idea...."

I drifted off, because Lee had opened his door wearing only a pair of navy boxer briefs and stolen my breath. The clingy cotton fabric seemed to adore its job, taking the "brief" part seriously, if you know what I mean.

Wonderingly, I lifted my eyes way up...startled by how extra tall he looked mostly naked...and also startled because I'd assumed he was skinny, and that wasn't true. No, his leanness came from tight muscles that made his arms and torso all ropy. But when I read his eyes, my hopes fell. His were at half-mast and heavy with drowsiness.

"No suitcase?" A hand threaded through his tousled hair. The two words came out gritty, but sadly he didn't sound like a sex fiend. I was pretty sure I'd gotten him out of bed, waking him up yet again. Oops.

This wasn't a booty call, then. I'd misinterpreted his texts. Whatever you want meant we'd play games or pig out on snacks.

I'd read my own wishes into his words. He'd probably been texting me half asleep.

I shook my head dumbly.

With a friendly smile—and also a huge yawn, making me feel guilty—he held the door wide. Clearly waiting for me to enter.

I hovered on the threshold. I wanted to turn around and run back to my room. But I also wanted to stay.

Sleepy Lee was so very appealing, leaning against that doorpost, looking so wiry and long. He was just so, so much a guy. I kept remembering what it had felt like to be held by him, touched by him.

He gestured for me to come in a bit impatiently. Taking a deep breath, I threw caution to the wind and sauntered in like it was no big deal, just typical middle-of-the-night behavior for me.

My steps faltered. If my room was a shoe box, his suite was a treasure chest. "What do they even call this?"

He unhurriedly shut the door, not seeming to care that anybody passing by might see him in his undies. "Imperial suite or something. My assistant could tell you. But that reminds me, you'll need to call me emperor from now on."

I whirled around.

His lazy smile made me breathless. "Dream on, Lee."

"I do," he said in a deep rumble. "You're usually dropping grapes in my mouth. And cooing, oh, Lee, what else does my liege want?"

I wasn't sure whether to take him seriously or not. "Maybe I should come back another time."

"Stay. I'm kidding." He blinked. "Mostly."

I bit my lip and meandered across the hardwood and tile floors, exploring while Lee ambled along behind. There was a fully-stocked kitchenette with a dining table and eight chairs. Plus a room with a sofa, desk and chair.
