Tonight was the big night. I had planned every last detail to make certain Camille's first showing was a success, and my hard work had paid off. The gallery was filled to the brim with a myriad of patrons—locals with family names stretching back to the Mayflower, tourists who wanted a pricey souvenir to take back home, and hipsters who were all looking for the next big thing.

I took a sip of champagne as I stood outside, casually leaning my back against the ornate, black railing that sectioned off the sidewalk from the boardwalk. The balmy night air blew across the outdoor patio and ruffled the hems of our cocktail dresses.

"Tonight has been perfect, Nina. I feel like I'm dreaming," Camille said as we watched a group of five step into the gallery.

I mentally calculated that if just one of those five bought something, sales would be higher than they ever had been for a showing. "I told you so! I knew that everyone would absolutely love your work and that you'd make a fortune!"

"You can't know how thankful I am for everything you've done for me," she said sincerely.

"Hey, my commission is thanks enough," I smirked playfully as I nudged her with my shoulder. "Really, I'm just glad I could help."

"I just don't think I could have done any of this without you."

"Well, hey. It's my job. And, we are helping each other out. I've never had such a turn out at one of these events." I flicked my gaze to the glass front doors of my gallery, watching as a well-dressed couple went inside. Soft light poured from the store front windows, and I watched with satisfaction as tourists and locals mingled around Camille's artistic photography.

Camille beamed. "It's surreal. A few months ago I was an amateur photographer, and now I am a professional with people actually buying my work! I never thought anything like this was possible."

I couldn't help but share in her excitement. "Just remember the little people when you become a billionaire," I grinned cheekily.

"Oh, shut up. I'm just happy that I can afford Janie's tuition. Anything else is just icing on the cake."

"How is she doing?" I asked before taking a sip of my champagne.

"Janie? Oh, doing great. She's bugging me to take her to Disney World for spring break. Maybe now I can afford to."

"You'll be able to take her anywhere in the world after tonight. These sales are just the beginning, I hope you realize."

"Pinch me. I'm dreaming," she sighed wistfully. "So, can I ask you something?"

"Of course!" I slanted my gaze towards her as my brow arched. "What's up?"

"You ever think about having kids? Janie adores you, you know. And, you're so good with children," she said. "I think you'd make an amazing mother.
