Sylmarin watched Lyallan's face turn into a frown. A sigh left him disgustedly.

Seeking to amuse herself and potentially tease the force master, the woman moved closer and started to reach with both hands towards his mouth with the thought to lift the corners into a smile. His hands caught hers as he pulled them away with annoyed confusion on his face.

"What are you doing?"

Pulling her hands free in a pout, the woman replied, "I was just trying to turn that frown upside down. What is making you grumpy this time?

"Can't your bird find the Eyralith?"

Shaking his head at her audacity and lack of respect with one motion, he grunted, "It hasn't found her yet and being a living creature, it needed a break to eat and rest. It has been awake all night and I could feel it flagging in the attempt."

"'It it it'," Sylmarin mocked teasingly. "That thing really needs a name, you know; if you plan on keeping it. Is it a he or a she by the way? I don't know how birds work, but it seems to me that they hide that better than some species, don't they?"

He ignored the teasing, though she made a point. Naming pets wasn't typically done, but on this world where much of their technology no longer existed and they had no technicians to fix or recreate much of it, this local bird was an important asset for observing the locals. Most of the smaller fighter ships were designed for space flight, and not very useful in an atmosphere. Plus the small hangar on the Dark Sparron was a wreck and only slightly less damaged than the bridge which was a complete loss.

They lacked vehicles of their own, but looking to this thumper, that might be remedied to a degree. Their allies had equipped most of their drop ships with at least one vehicle, though he doubted any of them could fly. While the first thumper had nothing of use that way, the second was being offloaded by Fallow and the other Okran. It appeared to be a bulky wheeled machine, but it was likely to be useful in carrying their gear and some of their people at least.

"Fine, I'll call him Vision and no I do not know for sure if it is a male bird. On this world we don't even know if such definitions work for the creatures here, though the Orcrish definitely had males and females for their race. Now stop being difficult.

"Has Fallow finished working out whether the other thumpers have any survivors?"

"The Okran communication arrays seem operational. Three of the other seven have returned messages, but only one appears to be working enough to fly," the woman replied becoming more businesslike, though Lyallan could feel her wish to tease him again, if he allowed her the time to do so. She was becoming more and more like that, but then again the will bender had always enjoyed toying with him, even before the disaster with the nebula.
