Though they could have resumed where they’d left off the moment Everly, Gabriel, and Goliath left, the guys had reverted to cop mode instead. Casey couldn’t say if it was that the mood had been shattered or if their unintended timeout had shaken them awake from the fantasy they’d been reenacting.

Or maybe the guys were pretending to be well behaved because they thought that’s what she would prefer. Either way, she was getting antsier—and hornier—by the minute.

Sure, the orgasm Ian had given her had been incredible. No one had ever gone down on her like that before. Not even Jace. But she needed more. The sweaty, rhythmic slapping of bodies straining toward completion together. Watching the guys shatter as completely as she had.

She’d missed that. Unbridled passion and sex so good she didn’t give a fuck what she looked or sounded like while she was getting it on. Not since Jace had she been that uninhibited. Free.

Suddenly, she thought she might die if she didn’t experience that complete liberation again soon. Jace’s logic had sunk in, too, though. It would be nice to have someone else there. Someone like Ian, who was every bit as passionate, yet far more controlled. Someone who’d make sure they didn’t harm each other again. Guardrails to keep them from rocketing over the edge of a cliff.

Casey barely resisted tapping her toe as the guys finished their search through her apartment, this time being more aware of their impact on her environment. When they’d reached the final area and cleared it, she thought for sure they would make their move.

Instead, Ian asked her, “Do you have food in the house? I can cook us something for dinner.”

They’d ordered lunch, as she usually did. But she had some basics on hand.

She wasn’t about to turn down his offer. “Hopefully it’s enough for you to throw something together.”

Jace rubbed his stomach. “Ian can make something out of nothing. I remember the days when we’d run out of money a few days before payday. He’d take a packet of ramen noodles or a can of SpaghettiOs and doctor it up until it seemed like a feast. I don’t know how he did it, but we never went hungry like I had back home.”

Ian shrugged. “It’s not that hard. Let me see what you’ve got.”

Casey spent the next half hour admiring him as he turned an opened box of pasta, some leftover grilled chicken, a couple vegetables, and a dash of spices into a delicious herbed pasta in a light butter sauce that made her sorry, for once, that she didn’t have any wine in the house.

“This is delicious, thank you,” she told him with her mouth half full. Manners be damned.

“You’re welcome.” He cleaned his own plate. “Need to feed you so you have enough energy for tonight.”

And there it was.

Her body lit up like a neon sign flickering to life. “Tonight, as in right now. Right?” She stood up from the table fast enough that her chair squeaked against the floor.
