Chapter 8

We heard a startling knock at the door of Karsten’s private office.

Karsten glared at me in contempt. Then, he swiftly walked towards the door and opened it at once.

“Can we talk?” the man asked Karsten. It was John. The General Manager of Interwerks Elite. Karsten’s right hand man. But, John seemed a little bit upset.

“Of course we can talk. What’s the problem?” Karsten casually asked. Of course Karsten wasn’t going to allow a little problem to ruin the magnificent sexual high that we’d just experienced after an hour-long romp in his office. I was pretty sure that the smell of sex was still floating in the air. John could probably sniff it out.

“It’s really steamy in here right now,” John casually stated.

Karsten and I both looked at him with a blank stare, sort of dismissing his claim (even though it was absolutely true).

“Anyway, there are multiple people from the media outside. They want to come in and snoop around. I told them that they aren’t allowed in – but there are too many of them to keep out. Plus, I can’t exactly call the police for help. And on top of all of this, they definitely can’t see you here Karsten. You shouldn’t even be here right now.”

Karsten looked at John, and then glanced away. He walked away from John, and strolled towards a bookshelf located in his office. He picked up a random book off the top of the shelf, and glanced at its back cover.

But Karsten then immediately turned around at once and looked at John. “It shouldn’t be a problem. The media can’t do much else to tarnish my reputation. I’m not sure how we can get them to leave, but I don’t believe that it will be a major issue if they try to breach the lobby.”

Then, I stepped into the conversation.

“I’ll take care of it,” I told the men while boldly looking at both of them. “This is my job. This falls under my line of work. I’ll take care of all of this,” I declared.

Karsten and John both looked at me with surprised expressions on their faces. They appeared unsure of my ability to take care of the problem all by myself. But, I was sure of it. I was independent and strong – knowing full well that I’d be able to handle it without an issue. While the media is a powerful force, I can be just as powerful when I want to be. Plus, Karsten originally hired me to protect him from the media. I had to step up to do what I signed up for.

“Don’t worry about it,” I reassured the guys as I stepped out of the private office and walked into the company lobby before they even had a chance to stop me.

One of them yelled “wait,” just as I’d shut the door. But, they were too late, and I was already gone to take care of the media.

I walked into the massive lobby of Interwerks Elite and looked through the transparent glass doors.
