I rubbed my eyes. Shit. I hope it wasn't gonna be awkward between us now! … Between any of us, for that matter! “Won't get in the way,” though? I wonder what she meant … did she really think that I was going to get with Beau? Would I?

I shook Beau until he woke with a groan. “Hey sleepyhead.”

He grunted. “Mm. Hi.”

I bit my lip. “Shit, Beau, what'd we do?”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean … is it gonna be weird now?”

He looked at me funny. “Only if you tell Mom and Dad.”

I slapped his shoulder. “Of course not!”

“Not yet at least.” He grinned.

I smiled. “You mean maybe someday we will?”

“Maybe.” He took a deep breath. “Riley. I meant what I said earlier. I really do love you. Since the day I met you. It's just … things were always so – so fucked up seeming. Like it'd destroy their marriage, if I told you how I felt. But everyday it just got worse.”

I bit my lip to keep from smiling too big. “I know what you mean.” I paused. “So you're really not dating Chantal?”

“Dude, no! I told you … I just … kissed her. Just that once.”

“Yeah, you just kissed her once.” I gave him a mad stare. “Only my mortal enemy.”

“Shit. Sorry. But don't forget, you hooked up with Brad.”

“But he's your friend, so why would that even piss you off? You just slept with my best friend, too, so we're even, right?”

He wrapped his arm around me and squeezed me tight. “Man. I guess it pissed me off because … because Brad knew how I felt about you.”

“You told him?”

“Of course.” He shrugged, like, duh, why wouldn't anyone admit to wanting to bone their step-sibling?

“Weren't you embarrassed?”

“Hell no! You're hot as fuck!” He grabbed my ass and squeezed.

I slapped his shoulder again.

“And you're a great girl.” He smiled and hugged me tightly. “I hope you don't mind what, uh, just happened. But, that was awesome.”

“Nope. Not at all. Clean slate. So … now what?”

“I've been thinking of transferring schools. I got this crazy girl stalking me and … I got this other girl I wanna see more of.”

“Oh yeah, who's this bimbo?” I teased, playing dumb.

“She's this crazy girl who sends her best friend to seduce me … while she hides in the closet, watching everything …” He rolled on top of me and nibbled on my sensitive neck.

“Ahhh! Stop, stop!” I wrestled with him, laughing like crazy.
