Chapter Seven
I collected more water in whatever containers we could find. Searching for stuff is how I found a medic kit tucked between the seats. It had a disinfectant rag and a laser pen. That sure as hell wouldn’t hurt to have on hand. Our clothes had long since dried so Kavin brought them in the ship, but I noticed he didn’t get dressed. We were both trying to act casual about being naked and so far, it was working. The more I thought about him, the more I realized how much Kavin meant to me. Kind of the worse time ever for a fucking breakthrough about one’s sexuality. I dragged the box of fruit inside the ship and went to see what else we’d need for the night. Neither of us were talking about it but that creature had us worried. But there was only so much we could do. I stood outside the ship with my hands on my bare hips. My cock had nudged a bit upward when Kavin walked passed. Who knew I was an ass man? Anyway, the fence was as secured as we could get it. We had supplies so once that sun went down we wouldn’t have to get out of the ship. “I wish I had my fucking bike.” I muttered to no one in particular. I’d be able to outrun any creature on all of Earth. I sighed, sad to think of it just sitting on Mars collecting dust and who knows what else.
“Do you see that?”
There was a dick joke at the tip of my tongue, but Kavin was pointing upward. My gaze shifted to the blue, sunny sky and the dark horizon. Why was it that vicious gray color like a bike backfiring? “What is that?” The white clouds were darkening, and it swept closer with unsettling speed. We stood there watching as it drifted toward the sun and began to cover it. Shadows perked up all around, followed by a swift breeze. Whatever it was seemed to turn day into night. It wasn’t nearly as dark as when the stars were out, but it made me wonder what kind of hell we were about to experience. “Inside.” I rushed up the ramp, making sure Kavin was in before slamming it shut. We were trapped inside as the wind picked up. I heard soft pattering sounds on the haul of the ship. They weren’t nearly as threatening as the night before. “It couldn’t be the same creature, could it?”
“Well, fuck me.” Kavin was standing on the stairs to the pilot area when he whispered.
I instantly grabbed my gun off the floor and held it firmly.
“It’s rain.” He turned toward me with a goofy smile on his face.
“Rain.” Seriously? That ominous looking dark cloud was rain? We read about the weather of Earth briefly in history class in school but, being that we didn’t live on this planet anymore, it didn’t really go in-depth.
Kavin rushed over and opened the ramp before I could stop him.
