Chapter 8
Bowie
I blazed up a cigarette as I hid in the shadow of two adjacent buildings and watched Pitch walk into the L&Lâs presidentâs salon. The man had been my most loyal brother in all the years since joining our MC. He was quite the little pipsqueak when he first prospected, but the years of riding with us has made him harder. Not to mention the shit-show my grand ole uncle left us in. I hadnât known then that he was in debt up to his fucking eyeballs in his personal life and ran the club right into the ground by sucking it dry, too. In an attempt to make up for it, heâd bartered some pretty shady shit with even worse deals. Most of our club hadnât stuck around when they found out. Theyâd made one excuse or another to leave us so they didnât have to face jail time if we got caught. Lucky them. Iâd have taken a life of ease out of the club or hell, even some jail time in replacement for the threats weâd been laden with. Iâd tried my damndest to get us out of this one, but that almost came at the cost of mine and Pitchâs lives. Mine was one thing, but I couldnât let him take the fall for something that my damn uncle had done.
So, here we were, trying to get help from the one MC in town that we shouldnât be. Iâd never heard of a female-led MC, but there was a first time for everything. In this case, I wouldnât argue with their choice of leaders, either. Sidra was a very beautiful woman. Tall enough to not be awkwardly short and long, stunning legs that Iâd already fantasized more than once about having wrapped around my hips. Her long, dark hair tinted with green made me want to wrap it up in my fists while I pounded into her.
With all the stress of the past several months hanging over my head, I hadnât been in a woman's bed for longer than I cared to admit. Which is the sole reason I blamed the jealousy that burned through my stomach as I watched Pitch follow Sidra to the back of the salon.
Weâd agreed the night before on what needed to be done after Iâd overheard some of Doomâs men talking. Drugs and guns were one thing, but the shit they were into was something Iâd never stand behind. Iâd, of course, taken the short straw on purpose, giving him the pretty girl while I was stuck with the less savory option. But that didnât mean that I could stop myself from watching his back while he wooed his little heart out, because I had no doubt that was exactly what he was doing while delivering our message.
I took a puff of my cigarette and blew it out slowly, letting the smoke seep between my lips while I pretended not to count all of the time Pitch was gone. When he emerged not long later, the smile he wore said it all as did the color in his cheeks.
