C.C. flinched. “Yeah, I can see that being off-putting. I’ll come up

with something else to call you when we’re alone. Later.” Not waiting for

Astro’s reply, he slid his arms around Astro’s torso, fitting their bodies

together beneath the blanket to conserve body heat.

Astro leaned into the embrace, nuzzling C.C.’s jaw. “You realize

that we’ll never live it down if the rest of the staff comes looking for us

and finds us like this.”

C.C. smiled. “It’s still raining. The wind’s quieted down a little, but

they aren’t going to get soaked when they know we’re up here at the staff

house.”

“They don’t know for sure we made it up here,” Astro reminded

him.

C.C. shook his head. “The Amazons assume everyone is as

competent as they are. As long as they made it back to the dining hall after

securing the units, they’ll assume we made it up here and got everything

secured as well. Nobody will come looking for us before morning.”

“Not helping me be good,” Astro muttered.

C.C. laughed and kissed Astro lightly. “So we’ll talk about

something else. Tell me about your classes. You didn’t talk much about

yourself the night we all went out to dinner except to say you were at

UNC-A.”

“I’m studying forestry,” Astro said. “It’s a relatively new program

on campus, but Asheville’s the perfect place for it, with the mountains

literally right there. I can be on the Blue Ridge Parkway in twenty

minutes, thirty if traffic is bad.”

C.C. nodded. “Then this is the perfect job for you. It gets you out in

the woods all summer long.”

Astro smiled. “That was a side benefit, for sure. The real reason I

thought it was the perfect job was because it’s a girls’ camp. No

distractions, no temptations, no one to bother me while I licked my

wounds.”

“Sorry about that,” C.C. said, though he didn’t sound sorry at all.
