The next morning back at home, I was eating breakfast in the kitchen when my mother entered.

“Good news. I have a beautiful date for you tonight at 7 p.m.” she said.

I groaned. “I’m really not looking to go on any dates,” I explained.

“Don’t be silly, dear. You need to get out, and—”

“I’m seeing someone, mom.”

“Are you looking for excuses, Alexander?”

“No. I’m being honest. I’m seeing someone.”

“But you just arrived here? That is fast,” she said, amazed.

“Not as fast as you trying to set me up!”

“Yes, I know. I’m not saying it’s too soon. I just meant, I had no idea you were so capable,” she paused and pursed her lips. “Okay, very well. So, who is this lady, and when do I meet her? Perhaps you should invite her over for dinner tonight.”

“Well, you basically already know her. Remember Jessica, my girlfriend from school?”
