I Just Called to Say . . .

“Xander, I only have a couple seconds,” Sarah said.

After locking in the two men who had come for her, she had checked several rooms down the long hallway until she found a phone. She was huddled in the corner of an office. She could hear the two men pounding on the door down the hall. She knew more would be coming for her.

“Fill me in,” Xander said.

“I was taken to Athens. In a warehouse, no other info there. Gregor Maragos’s operation is here, but I haven’t seen him so I’m not sure he is still here. I met an American woman named Dbie Johnson. She is the one who called for help, the one on the flash drive that one of our agents was killed for. She said Gregor has built mosquito nanobots and she is certain he’s about to use them for harm. You have to find out who or what might be Gregor’s target and go there immediately. I will do my best to keep Dbie safe. Don’t worry about me, find Gregor and stop him before it’s too late.”

“I—”

A loud crash, not far from where Sarah was huddled, kept Sarah from hearing Xander’s reply.

She returned the phone to her ear. “I have to go now. Stop Gregor. I’ll see you soon.”

She placed the phone receiver back in its cradle and walked over to the door. It was dark in the room, making it difficult for her to search for anything that could be used as a weapon. The two men who had come for her earlier weren’t her concern now; she could handle them. It was the rest of the security team that had surely been called by then that worried her.

She inched the door open. Just a few feet from her in the hallway, she heard a door open, then shut. Then closer, another door opened and then shut. They were almost to her now. That was when an alarm began to sound and all of the lights turned on. Her chance of escape had just diminished considerably. The entire building was about to come down on her.
