Chapter Nine

The sound of Braig’s phone vibrating rapidly against the hard surface of the bedside table woke him. He moved careful so that he wouldn’t wake Daniel.

The two of them had spent the entire day in bed, learning each other’s bodies. Braig knew where all of Daniel’s ticklish spots were and he’d used them to his advantage a few times. Braig also knew how to touch Daniel to make him beg and plead for more.

Rolling from the bed, Braig grabbed his cell phone and hit the talk button before ducking into the closet.

“Yeah,” he murmured.

“I’m pretty sure we found him.”

“Morenov?” Braig asked, suddenly wide awake. He was a little surprised that the team had been able to locate the rogue so quickly considering the fact that Daniel hadn’t been too specific.

“We sent a military drone over the Catskill Mountains with an infrared camera. We’ve got multiple heat sources coming from a barn. We’re taking the chopper in to investigate tonight. I just wanted to give you a heads-up, just in case you wanted to join us.”

“Yeah, I want to go.” Braig started grabbing his clothes. He pulled a pair of leather pants, a shirt, and a trench coat from the hangers and held the items over his forearm.

“Meet on top of the building in ten.”

Clicking the end button, Braig placed his phone on the nearest flat surface. He started getting dressed, putting on his leather gear before grabbing his double shoulder holster from one of the shelves. He secured it around his back and picked up his twin 9mm Beretta pistols. Braig tested the weight of the weapons, rolling his fingers along the cool grip, before sliding them into his holsters. Pulling on his black leather trench coat, Braig grabbed his phone and slipped it inside the inside coat pocket.

Braig stepped into the bedroom. His eyes automatically sought out Daniel, who was still fast asleep. Braig moved closer to the bed. He stared down at Daniel and smiled. He looked like an ethereal angel with his golden curls fanned out around his head creating a halo. Reaching out a hand, Braig ran a finger along Daniel’s jawline.

He wanted to climb back into bed with his True Match. Braig wanted to wrap his body around Daniel’s small frame, but somehow he managed to refrain from following his instincts.

This mission was his chance to get revenge for Daniel. He could finally get his hands on Morenov and make the rogue pay for everything he’d done.

Leaning down, Braig planted a lingering kiss on Daniel’s forehead before forcing himself to leave.

He marched through his condo. When he reached the private elevators, Braig keyed in his security code and the doors slid open. He pushed the button for the roof and the elevator went upward. In a matter of seconds, the doors opened once again and Braig stepped out onto the helicopter pad.

Braig stood at ease, his hands clasped in front of him. He heard the chopper before he saw it, the wind swirling around as it moved closer and closer to his location.
