TORI WATCHED drowsily as Adam unfastened the restraints. The night had worn on, the moon rising to cast him in a silvery glow as he moved around in silence, slipping her foot from a restraint, massaging her ankle and calf with solid strokes.

Though Tori suffered no discomfort, she didn’t tell Adam that. Not when he so thoughtfully soothed away all her imagined aches and made her feel so delicious in the process.

“How do you feel?” he asked, before moving to her arms to perform the same service.

“Perfect. As long as you tell me you’re not done having fun.”

“You convinced me to give casual a try, Tori. Now it’s my turn to convince you of the merits of good old-fashioned lovemaking in a bed.”

“Be still my heart.”

He surprised her by pressing a kiss to her wrist, a tender, openmouthed kiss that spoke more loudly than words how pleased he was with her and their game. It was such a romantic gesture, one she hadn’t expected from the strait-laced Adam.

One she hadn’t realized would charm her so much.

Wasn’t Adam just full of surprises?

And it just so happened that Tori liked surprises, which left her feeling warm and wonderful and oh-so-willing when he scooped her off the rack into his arms. And relieved. She wouldn’t have been able to stand right now if she’d tried. Adam had annihilated her—her body felt like a jumbled mass of nerves.

Wrapping her arms around his neck, she rested her cheek on his shoulder and inhaled his masculine scent. She felt protected and right in his arms. It was a singular feeling, one that made her content with the silence, with the way her heart upped its beat as he strode into her bedroom and that huge bed appeared, so regal and unusual, so promising.

He deposited her into the middle, and she stretched out, giving Adam an eyeful. But he didn’t join her. He backed away from the bed to unbutton his shirt, still silent, still contemplative, still so incredibly desirable in the moonlight.

Despite her drowsiness, Tori wanted nothing more in that moment than the privilege of undressing this man for herself, and rolling to the side, she took a leap of faith and trusted her legs to support her.

She moved to stand in front of him, gratified when his gaze raked over her and his chest rose and fell sharply. She liked his reactions, liked that he wanted her, liked that the world was right again and she was at eye level with his throat, a position that leant to that unfamiliar sense of being sheltered by his big body, by the power of his desire.

Brushing his hands away, she gazed up into his face and asked, “May I?”

He watched her with those serious eyes, as if assessing what type of stunt she’d try to pull this time.

“I just want to touch you,” she said, and somehow her admission sounded intimate and needy in the moon-soaked night, a wish she wanted him to grant.

Adam inclined his head and, feeling strangely fluttery, she bent her head to her task and unbuttoned the first button.
