5.The Excitement of Truth

Serena got home and fell asleep quickly. The evening had been so exciting but the abrupt end had made it feel as if it didn’t really happen. She woke early. The sun was streaming in through the plantation shutters causing shaded stripes on her skin. She got up and caught sight of herself on the mirror on the way to the bathroom. Her body looked good, taut and glowing. She smiled a cheeky smile to herself. Her body always looked amazing after a good sex session.

Serena’s weekend was a quiet one. John and Christine spent theirs at the hospital. Christine had called to say John’s dad would make it but would need some time to stabilize. Becky and David were busy working on one of their properties and Tania had a beauty expo she had to attend. Mick didn’t call and she didn’t feel like calling him. Even her parents were out of town. But even though it was quiet Serena felt different. Change was in the air. She had spoken her mind, actually she had done more than that, she had expressed her truth. Truth is recognizable. Truth cannot be hidden, which is why Christine had responded to it. Christine knew the truth too. Productivity was low at work and the environment had a lot to do with it.

She was for the first time in her life, excited about going to work on Monday. Now there were two reasons to be excited. She could get to be closer to Christine and exploring aspects of their sensuality together and the truth that her creativity was finally being set free.

She got in to work early, so early she was the first one there. David was not even in yet. She made herself a strong cup of coffee and used the time to walk all around the place and study the colors used, in this case it was a lack of them. The overabundance of the particularly dull shade of mid grey had a numbing effect on the brain. The furniture was spindly and old fashioned. There was more effort put in by the worker to stop from falling off the rattling chairs rather than staying put in them and focusing on the job to hand. Bosses constantly underestimated the importance of a good chair.

Serena wrote furiously. She was making lists of things that required urgent attention and some approximate costings. She also made a list of the stage two work. These were the things that could wait but would really make the place cohesive and sharp. She needed to work fast so she could out the lists in front of Christine as soon as she walked in. Serena had a secret fear that Christine had only made the offer of the design work to get the evening moving in the right direction, her pussy. Too bad if she did. Serena had a door opened for her and she was walking through it. Serena had done enough of hiding who she really was, enough of burying her own dreams so others could feel good.
