Quinn stares back at me in horror before turning into one of determination and rushes over to me to assist.

“What the hell happened?”

“Lucy is the hell that happened,” I look up at him. “Here, take him while I create a comfortable space for him. You need to staunch the blood. Lucy cut his throat before she decided to hand him to me.” Handing him over, I walk up to the podium and wave my hand over it, a single medical bed appearing before me. It’s not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it’ll make do while I heal him.

Gently, Quinn places him on the bed, shuffling to a position to give me easy access to him, whilst still putting pressure on his neck to prevent the rapid flow of blood. I run my hands over him to see exactly where all injuries are but there’s so much blood I don’t know how he’s even still alive.

I tear open his shirt and place my hands on his forehead and his belly. I take a deep breath in, preparing myself. Healing an individual takes a lot of power because I am literally stitching them together at a molecular level, and with the amount of injuries he has, it’s going to take some work.

I close my eyes and allow my powers to heal him. A tingling sensation runs through my arms and out through my hands. Frollo’s skin vibrates under my touch as he begins to become whole again. Ten minutes later, I remove my hands and fall back onto the floor, face coated with a sheen of sweat.

Footfalls echo within the walls of the empty church. “Are you okay?” Quinn asks. When the Father’s throat had healed up, and there was no chance of him losing anymore blood, I had asked him to step back to give me some room.

“I’m fine.” My voice strained, chest rising slowly as I fight to regain my energy. I’m exhausted and need a few minutes.

This is definitely the last time I’m doing this shit. I can’t keep on going around healing people. If he wasn’t close to Quinn, I would have let him die. Cruel? Yes. Demonic? Damn straight, but this is the price of healing. It puts you in a vulnerable state and I can’t afford to be vulnerable, not when old friends are trying to kill me and take over the world.

A few hours later, I’m feeling more myself and less like I want to fall into a restful sleep forever. I’m sitting in one of the pews near the Father. He’s sleeping soundly on his bed on the podium, snoring lightly. Quinn takes a seat next to me, the warmth radiating from his body, soothing me. We both sit in silence. It's not the most comfortable of silences but it's one I welcome. I'm in no mood to talk.

"How come you left the other day?"

You’ve got to be kidding me. Really? He once bitched at me going off at him when he was acting like a bitch, accusing me of being all girly, and now, he’s being the little bitch.
