Chapter 10
The next day, Helena woke up to find the sun streaming in through the windows. Mark had opened the curtains and woken her.
“Good morning, little one. Did you sleep well?” he asked, gently brushing her forehead with his lips.
“Yes, thank you,” she answered immediately resuming her child role. She hadn’t woken up feeling safe and sound like this in a long time. The room was her world at this point in time. Nothing could get in to hurt her and Daddy made sure of that. The night had been full of sweet dreams apart from one at the start. She’d felt Rann push at her mind trying to gain entry, but her defences had held. Mark had probed her mind fleetingly through the night and supported them. Even now she could feel him trying to discover the source of the unpleasant dream. He was getting closer to finding out and it threatened to make her tense. She shook the feeling off vowing not to let him in at any cost. She didn’t want to show any weakness or how damaged she was underneath.
Daddy slipped his hand underneath the covers and cupped the diaper she was wearing underneath her nightdress with the rose petals all over it.
“You stayed dry through the night. Good girl. Do you want to be a big girl and use the potty this morning?”
Helena frowned. She wasn’t sure what was worse, weeing into a diaper at his command on his knee or sitting on a potty peeing in front of him.
“Can I not use the toilet, Daddy?” She had to try.
“No, naughty girl,” he said shaking her chin in a gentle playful manner. “You are not old enough to use the toilet. Come on, let’s get you up. Potty, then food, then bath and dressed.”
He threw the covers off and reached down to lift her up in to his arms.
“Why are you carrying me, Daddy?” she queried.
“Because I like to, baby girl. Do you not like it?”
“I love it, Daddy.” She giggled.
They reached the bathroom and Helena found herself looking longingly at the toilet as Mark sat her down on the chair near the window. Mark was dressed in one of his trademark designer three-piece suits. He removed his suit jacket and draped it over the side of the bath allowing Helena a glimpse of his athletic body in the fitted shirt and waistcoat. He opened the cupboard door while she gazed out the white bathroom, almost identical to the one off her bedroom downstairs, over the grounds at a swimming pool as the breeze waved the fir trees in the woods in the distance. She hadn’t left the room for over a day and she wondered what he had been telling his team guarding her about her reluctance to come out. It made her supress a giggle wondering how they would take her appearance if they happened to walk in on them.
Mark took out a potty large enough for an adult. It was white with happy little baby ducks in nappies all over it.
