Henny expected things to change between him and Doherty. But it didn’t. Doherty acted like it wasn’t a big deal. It felt like it should have been a big deal to Henny. Hell, they were in the locker room with each other every day, getting dressed and undressed. That usually posed a problem with most guys even if Henny did his best not to look. He was on edge the every time as he walked into the locker room to get changed for their morning workout. Some of the guys were already there and ready but Doherty wasn’t. It made Henny feel sick wondering if he was the reason for Doherty running late. What was he doing? Was he talking to management? Henny didn’t want to have to experience what happened in Seattle again.

He was halfway into his Under Armor when someone smacked him on the back. “Dude, moving slow today? You and Axel had a party after I left?”

Henny looked up to see the Doherty had a towel around his neck and a torn tee shirt in his hands. “You say that like I’m late.”

Doherty grinned. “On time is late. You know that.”

“Not all of us live for box jumps and pull-ups.” Henny rolled his eyes.

“You don’t know what you’re missing out on.” Doherty shrugged his shoulder as he made his way over to his stall. He grabbed a new shirt and tugged it on.

“Oh, I think we know exactly what we’re missing out on.” Gags drawled out as he plopped down and adjusted the laces on his shoes. Everyone looked up when Teppo walked into the doorway and let out a loud curse.

“You okay over there Teppo?” Lusky asked as he tried to muffle his laughter. Teppo dropped to the bench and shot Lusky the bird.

“Yeah, he’s okay.” Duffy laughed. “He looks a little hung over but he’s alright.”

“He won’t be saying that when he’s puking his guts out later.” Sluts mumbled to himself.

Everything was just as it had been the week before and all the panic and doubt that had been tearing through Henny’s mind disappeared. It didn’t matter that he told Doherty that he was gay. It didn’t matter here. At least not yet. But if it didn’t matter now, he had a feeling that it wouldn’t matter later on.

It felt good. For the first time in months, Henny didn’t feel like he had an unbearable weight sitting on his chest waiting to smother the life out of him.
