CHAPTER 13

THE PHARMERS

The group that befriended Deymann at the staff meeting sat by themselves at a lunch table in the massive cafeteria.

"Look, I'm not saying that you're gay. But maybe, if you look deep within yourself, you'll find a penis... from another guy," the Rasta worker said with clinical sincerity to the Middle Eastern gentleman.

"Hey! Fuck you man! I stink of the manliness! My aroma of masculinity has gone to your head, and you are making prom night, bitch-like heat," he growled from beneath his overgrown, food-covered mustache, and confidently nodded to the table's other occupants.

Deymann rushed up to the cafeteria table, "I'm ready!" He banged on the table's surface and stood straight-up with an anxious exhale.

The Middle Eastern man arose quickly, pushing away his chair so hard that it collided into a secretary walking past, knocking her to the floor, and spilling her lunch tray. He took no notice as he aggressively stepped toward Deymann and glared directly up into Deymann's nostrils, his moustache level with Deymann's nipples.

"Oh no, you ain't not, bitch," he snarled.

"Oh yeah, I yes am?" Deymann responded in a confused questioning tone.

The Rasta worker snickered slightly.

"Then why is my dick not in your mouth, princess?" was lethally whispered from under a bushy, food-streaked moustache.

"Because I'm a vagi-tarian?" Deymann responded stiffly, his eyes shifting from left to right.

A twisted smile appeared under the thick black brush, "Touché, noob. Touché." The Middle Eastern man slinked back to retrieve his chair and resumed eating from his plastic container full of an unidentifiable, cologne-scented bean dish.

The Rasta worker stood up, tapped Deymann on the shoulder, and nodded toward the hallway. Both of them walked from the lunchroom in silence. They turned a corner and entered a vacant service hallway.

"He really lays it on thick with the gay and dick jokes. It's not funny, and it's actually quite offensive," Deymann twisted his head backward with a feeling of new found paranoia.

"It's not funny, because he actually is a quite offensive, gay dick joke," the Rasta man said with a sideways smile. "But you have more important things to worry about." He stopped in his tracks and stared unblinking into Deymann's eyes, "From this day forward, you will begin your initiation into our inner circle. We hold all the real power in this company. We call ourselves 'The Pharmers', and your first trial begins now."

They walked down the abandoned hallway.

Deymann broke the heavy silence, "Pharmers? I get it, It's because the company is called Grosse Pharma, right?"

"Wrong. It's because we consider this company moist, fertile land to be worked and plowed to provide us a continuous, overflowing table of plenty," the Rasta man replied. "You will be indoctrinated into our order. You will face trial with each Pharmer, and each will be more brutal than the last."

"This sounds like some kind of demented gang initiation," Deymann responded timidly.

"Worse. You only have to kill a grandmother or shove crack balloons up your ass for that. This is going to be hard. Each
