Chapter Sixteen

Troy put the last of his breakfast dishes away and frowned. The long Sunday stretched out ahead of him and he’d no idea what to do with all those hours. He almost smiled when he recalled how he used to live for his days off when he’d still been employed by others. If he’d been asked before he started this venture on his own, he would have said he treasured the days when he didn’t have to work. It still amazed him how big a difference having one less free day made. Not being able to afford an assistant meant he worked six days a week. The one day he didn’t have schedules for was almost disruptive to the rhythm he’d slipped into. And right now, he was more unsettled than he had been in the recent past.

With a sigh, he grabbed his phone and scrolled through the numbers. His finger hovered over Xander’s name before he shut the mobile down again. As much as he enjoyed spending time with Xander, he still hadn’t completely made up his mind about him.

He poured himself another cup of coffee while conceding that Xander’s behavior on the night they’d had dinner together had been as encouraging as it had been confusing. As delighted as he’d been to hear Xander say he wasn’t looking for a meaningless hook-up, he couldn’t deny that his reluctance to go with the flow and see where their mutual attraction might lead them had also triggered irritating insecurities. What if I’m just not his type?

He leaned against the kitchen counter, sipping his coffee, as he rejected the idea. He only needed to close his eyes to see Xander’s face and the heat in his gaze again as he tugged on his own dick, bringing himself to a climax while Troy did the same. The memory stirred Troy’s blood and he put his mug down before adjusting himself.

He wanted to trust his instincts which told him that Xander and he were on the same wavelength. Surely he wasn’t the only man in Dublin wanting more than sex? Hadn’t Xander already shown him he could be trusted? He’d come through with the artwork for the tattoo and he appeared to enjoy the time they’d spent together as much as Troy did. Lost in thought, Troy walked to the living room.

He sat on the couch, picked up the remote to turn on his television and flicked through the channels only to turn the screen off again. There was rarely anything worth watching on any of the channels on a Sunday morning. Scratch that, interesting programs were few and far between at any time of day or night, and he often wondered why he even bothered keeping the television and paying his license fee.

His thoughts drifted back to Xander. The artist was never far from his mind these days. Troy’s imagination was trying to drive him crazy with graphic depictions of what exploring Xander’s body would be like. And that was the whole problem in a nutshell.
