A few days ago, Adam would’ve laughed at any of this being a possibility. Biokenreyis, pyrokinreyis, aerokinreyis … anything-kinreyis! Secret locations hidden underground in Minnesota where mutated people roam around like there’s no world upstairs. Then, nearly being choked to death by his girlfriend’s mother in a bio-sensory corridor. Though he can admit he had that coming, he still tries desperately to control his facial expressions.

Nobody in their right mind would ever believe any of this exists. They barely believe the weatherman when he says it’ll rain on Tuesday. He absorbs the scenery while touring the massive facility. There are multiple levels, each containing rooms. Some with regular wooden doors, some with thick metal, and some with glass. But there are no knobs on any of the doors.

They’ve even built a simulated playground for the kids. He returns to the common area, with Galina on his heels, just when Carly and Dauma reappear. Seeing them together amazes him. While still conversing, their bond becomes more evident. Even their movements are in sync.

Dauma is, by leaps and bounds, the second most gorgeous woman he has ever laid eyes on. Only second to Carly and Carly is a duplicate beige copy of her, except Dauma’s physical features are reminiscent of an Egyptian Goddess. Perfect, translucent skin, not a wrinkle on her, cotton candy lips, a figure that seems to have been sculpted by the Gods, slanted bronze eyes, long, glossy raven tresses, a spellbinding walk, and a distinct vigor no man could resist.

As they approach, Carly’s sadness registers in his chest. He sees where Carly inherits her calm nature from because neither of their faces reveal anything. Carly kisses him as if nothing’s wrong.

“Okay,” Dauma sighs, “we all must speak now. Galina, please inform the Elders to assemble in the conference room for an emergency meeting.”

Galina nods and scurries off. They follow Dauma back into her dorm room.

“Please, sit. I know you have many questions and I will try to answer them all as quickly as I can. Once I am done, I too will have questions for you.”

Adam nods his acknowledgement.

“So, I know first question is…”

“…where are we?” he blurts out, interrupting her.

Dauma’s eyes darken and her amethyst LR flashes. Carly lowers her head and sizzles his hand. Then he remembers she warned him never to interrupt her mother while she’s speaking.

“I apologize, ma’am. Please, continue.”

Her eyes return to their copper hue and she resumes in her sultry fractured English.

“So, we are currently in location that shall remain secret location. But, I’m sure you’re more interested in what, and not where, yes?”

He nods again.

“This is safe house headquarters for Descendants of the seven families. It is called Afrax. Carly has informed me she’s versed you on some of our history already. But not all, I imagine. Some prefer to live normal lives out in the world. Some prefer to remain here where they feel most safe. The Iksha is known for silently locating, capturing, and killing Descendants. This, I’m sure you know.
