I opened my eyes slowly, adjusting to the morning sun crossing the room and landing directly in my eye. Yawning, I rolled over and draped my arm around Dylan…

Except my arm landed on an empty bed.

Lifting my head, I looked around. I was definitely alone in bed. Glancing around my bedroom, I figured maybe he was in the bathroom or grabbing a snack or something.

“Dylan?” I called out and waited for a response.

Silence.

Climbing out of bed, I pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a tank top. I checked the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room—all empty. Putting my hands on my hips, I stared at the front door.

Had that jerk just left in the middle of the night? No goodbye, no anything?

Finding my phone, I opened up Tinder and searched for our messages. But…they were gone.

He’d unmatched me!

What. The. Fuck.

Suddenly I understood why I’d never had a one night stand before. That shit hurt.

Going into the kitchen, I pulled open the fridge while dialing Nicole’s number.

“Hello?” She answered the phone with a yawn, clearly having just been sleeping when I called.

I pulled out a container of strawberry yogurt and placed it on the counter. “Nic, you won’t believe this bullshit.”

“What happened?”

“He left,” I told her, spooning some yogurt into a bowl and grabbing the bag of granola out of the pantry. Pouring it on top, I made myself a delicious parfait for breakfast. “He literally left in the middle of the night while I was sleeping.”

Nicole didn’t respond for a moment, her pause feeling like a lifetime.

“Well, Emma…it was a one night stand. You didn’t expect him to stay and cuddle, did you?” she asked me.

My face felt flush, heat burning in my cheeks. “Well…I guess I did. Kinda? I mean, what’s wrong with some cuddling?”

“Nothing,” Nicole continued. “But it’s not exactly what you advertised for last night. Your message was pretty blatantly a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am kind of night.”

She had a point there. But I didn’t like it.

“Still. He could have at least said goodbye. Oh, and I forgot to tell you the most dickish part!”

“What?” she inquired.

“He unmatched me on Tinder sometime after he left last night.” I was still mad about that. Partly because it was a dick move—what a freaking player—and partly because that meant I couldn’t contact him again. And…damn, I wished I could.

I know, I had it bad. But the sex was just that good. How could I not want it again?

“Oh, my god.” Nicole huffed. “What a fucking prick. He’s clearly an asshole.”

“But…an asshole who was really great in bed,” I admitted.

“Tell me everything!” Nicole was a sucker for a good sex story, and I’d been feeding her nothing but dogs for years. Finally, I had something fun to tell her.

“I showed him my list.”

She squealed and I had to pull the phone away from my ear for a moment to not lose all hearing. “You did not.”

“I did,” I repeated myself. “And he was into it. Hell, he knocked a few things off my list last night alone.
