Wading in the depths of the pool, we share an intimate conversation about our plans for the future. I learn quite a bit about her desire to work for me and the dreams she has for Sapphire Jewelry. Impressed by her visions, I encourage her to tell me more and she does.

“You know, hiring you might have been the best thing I’ve ever done,” I confide in her. “Some of the things you’ve mentioned are things that I’ve considered but never thought about putting into action because they seem so far fetched.”

“It’s all in execution. Every business in every market is always evolving and changing, and I believe the key to success is staying several steps ahead of your competitors. It’s important to carve the path of the future and lay footprints that others only wish they could walk in. If it’s executed well, your competition will be lightyears behind you and forever attempting to keep up with you.”

A playful grin tugs at the corners of my lips. “You, Ella Swann, are brilliant.”

“Stop it,” she says splashing water at me. “You always say things that embarrass me.”

“You shouldn’t be embarrassed. You should be proud, and you also shouldn’t splash your boss,” I say, pushing a wave of water in her direction.

The water goes right in her face and we start a water fight, splashing each other, each wave bigger than the last. Hearing her laugh and squeal is music to my ears.

Boom!

A loud burst of thunder erupts from nowhere, startling both of us. I freeze in place as she jumps in my arms.

“Oh, my god,” she says, “that was so.” Boom!

“Loud?” I ask, finishing her interrupted sentence as another crack of thunder silences us.

“Yes!” She says, suddenly becoming aware that her entire body is wrapped around mine. “Sorry,” she says, trying to back away. “I’ve always been afraid of thunderstorms.”

I pull her close to me and refuse to let go. “It’s all right. I’ve got you.”

At that moment, we look deep into each other’s eyes and all the lust, want, and greedy need are there. Unspoken words pass between us as we yearn for each other and my eyes beg for permission to kiss her lips. Her hooded eyes are filled with desire as she slightly parts her lips and tilts her head back.

Pulling her closer to my chest, I lean down and drink in her longing expression. She wants this just as bad as I do. Our lips crash against each other’s and she melts against me, her body going completely limp in my strong arms.

My hands roam her body, exploring every inch of every curve. Her body is soft, yet firm. Under her satin skin is toned muscle and I never want to stop touching her. Breaking our kiss, I cup her face in my hands. “Ella, I have a confession to make.”

She stares at me, her eyes begging me to kiss her again but I have to tell her this before we continue. Pressing my forehead against hers, I continue holding her close to me.
