âEnzo and Cole are high. It worked. Maybe too well. Iâm taking them out of the house with Macy. Weâre going to go to Beats. Youâre clear to come home.â
I darkened my phone screen and blew out a breath. Iâd been waiting all evening to hear from one of the guys about how the sugar experiment went. Being on edge and trying to hide it from Rosie was quickly wearing me down. Iâd reached this point in my life where I didnât want to keep shit from her, so this was a big secret already eating at me.
âWant to get some snacks and have a movie night in your room?â I asked, helping her into her seat in my Jeep. I reached over her and buckled her in.
âSure. I have some homework to do first thoughââ
I raised my eyebrows at her. âDo you really or is it something thatâs due in a week or two?â
Her cheeks flushed. âWell, I mean. . .â
âBaby, come on. Just me and you. Iâll sing with you even.â
She brightened immediately. âYou want to sing with me?â
âAlways.â I placed a soft kiss on her lips. âWeâll sing and then weâll veg out. Deal?â
âDeal.â She wiggled in her seat, sending butterflies through my chest. I adored seeing her happy. Music was her life. While I enjoyed it too, my heart was in the writing and in football. I knew if my football career didnât pan out, Iâd write.
Or Iâd be forced to be one of Enzoâs men and spend my life doing shit that hurt my soul.
I swallowed hard at that thought as I closed Rosalie in and walked to my side, my head down. The last thing I wanted to do was lose myself in Enzoâs world, but I loved him and the guys. There wasnât anything I wouldnât do for them, and that included giving up my soul.
Of course, Rosalie mattered too, and as much as I liked to think Iâd always be with her, I knew this life was fucked and Iâd be lucky if I got the chance to be.
If I got separated from her, I made a vow that Iâd search each lifetime to find her and bring her home to me. She belonged to me. My soulmate. I just knew she was. Even when we were apart all those years after my mom passed away Iâd feel her around me. Needed her near me. Iâd watch her. Think of her. See her in my fucking dreams.
Rosalie Bishop was where my forever lie.
âYou OK?â she asked as I slid into my seat and started the engine. I did up my seatbelt and shifted into drive and pulled onto the street.
âOf course,â I answered, smiling over at her.
âYou looked deep in thought.â Her brows crinkled as she studied me.
âI was. I was just thinking about what song would be best to sing with you tonight.â
A tiny smile cut her plump, pink lips up. âMm, letâs do Rain on Me. Itâs so fun and upbeat!â
I snorted.
