Chapter Eleven

Vivian

The only thing that kept me grounded against this insanity was my delicious meatball grinder. It was perfect, with the roll baked toasty and crunchy. Peppers and onions and sauce surround the steaming meatballs and melty mozzarella and provolone cheese spilled over the bun. If I had one of these my last hour on earth, I would die a happy woman.

But death is too good for me, because not only did I run for my life in Columbia, but also boarded a plane and came straight to my hometown. Unknowingly I became party to a vast conspiracy. Men that turn into wolves were all around me, and there was one thing that kept haunting me.

They were all sexy as sin.

I didn’t know what this meant. I liked all of them—or rather Sean, Daniel, and Kyle. Lucius was a toss-up, though what woman wouldn’t like to get her hands on his sexy pecs. So, I was a little freaked out right now. More than a little. I was so freaked that the only thing that held my sanity was an Italian meatball sandwich—the only normal thing in my life.

Kyle stared at me over his pizza, and damn it, he was model gorgeous. With his blond hair and caramel brown eyes, he’d make any woman sizzle. Under his gaze, I melted more than the marshmallows Daniel and I made.

Was it any wonder I’m confused? How could I be so turned on by four men at once?

This was insanity, all of it, from Colombia to this minute. And what did Rick give me that someone wanted to kill me? I’d only taken a few bites of my grinder, but I found myself obsessed with the idea of finding what Rick could have given me. Where would he put it? I looked around wildly for my backpack and scuttled off my bed where I had sat and looked around for it.

“What’s going on Vivian?”

“I need to find my backpack. I’m sure whatever Rick took from those drug lords was in there.”

“We’ve already looked.”

“What? You went through my things?”

“When you and Sean went shopping for supplies.”

“You went through my things!”

Kyle’s expression turned pained, and it made me feel terrible—but no worse than the fact they violated my privacy.

“We had to. It was for your own good.”

“Yeah, that’s right. All you poking and prodding in my stuff, all for my safety. Coming to my house, pretending to be something you weren’t.”

“Vivian,” said Kyle spreading his hands. “Be realistic.”

“Realistic? What’s realistic about any of this? Men who change into wolves? Columbia drug cartels out to get me? I’m just one archeology student, not important in the broader scheme of things and these things simply do not happen!”

My voice rose as my level of panic did. I was so very, very screwed.

Holy hell, I had four werewolves in my house. Little Red Riding Hood had nothing on me.

“Whoa. Sorry. I did not mean to minimize this,” Kyle said reasonably raising his hands. Incongruously, his pizza slice hung to the side, the cheese threatening to slide off.
