By the time the lights go out my magic is mostly back and all weakness is gone. There is only one light above the door and I scan the dim room. âHow the fuck do I get out of here now?â I wonder out loud to myself.
Thereâs the two-way mirror but anything not bolted down has been removed from the room. Max said it was for my safety. I am on suicide watch or something. Thatâs fucking stupid. If I die the realm dies and the mortal realm will be overrun with the worst kinds of monsters though Iâm starting to wonder how much of a difference it will make since humans are already in danger in every major city.
Unlocking the handcuffs is a lot easier than the magic nulling cuffs. It only takes seconds before they click open. I wander around the dimly lit room looking for anything I can use to break the mirror. Maybe I can just throw a fireball at it.
âGet back in your bed.â That disembodied voice from the intercom says and I roll my eyes as I continue to pace the room concentrating on unlocking the cuffs. I donât need them off but I donât want them to know they are absolutely useless on me or they will find a new way to subdue me.
âFuck off.â I mutter to the voice. A click fills the room and the cuffs unsnap from my wrists clinking to the floor.
âPut the cuffs back on, Rory. Now.â The voice yells into the quiet room. âDonât make me subdue you a different way. You wonât like it.â
Rage courses through me. They donât have the right to order me around. âYou have no fucking idea the consequences of your actions taking me from my home.â I yell at the ceiling.
âThatâs not your home, Rory. Itâs time to do your duty to our cause after we raised you and fed you gave you a purpose. What do you think your parents would say?â The voice is softer now but a caustic laugh bubbles out of me at the idiotic words.
âI met my parents, idiot. They are two of the most powerful immortals in the realms and I know exactly what they would say to me. Burn it fucking down.â
Raising my hands a fireball forms and blasts into the two way mirror. The tinkling sound of glass breaking and a womanâs screams fill the air as the man on the intercom curses. Not one to waist a second I jump through the mirror dodging a punch from one of the guards and throwing another fireball at his chest. Everyone else in the room starts floating until they are stuck to the ceiling and I smirk.
Loki would be glad that trick helped me when I actually needed it. I just gotta get out of here so I can tell him and Zag all about it. Flinging open the door to the viewing room I find myself in a different hall. It must be
