“I still can’t believe you found someone to give us a sleigh ride,” I say as we walk into the banquet room for his office Christmas party. I have one hand loosely wrapped around his thick bicep and I’m savoring the feel of the fine fabric over his firm, warm flesh.

Rudy in his usual close-fitting shirt, jeans, and lace-up leather boots is extremely sexy. But when he showed up at my house wearing a three-piece navy suit? I considered throwing my dress at him and telling him that we would skip the party. But I promised I would go, and once he revealed the surprise sleigh ride to me, I was pretty committed to staying fully dressed and attending all of the evening’s activities.

“Who would’ve thought that open-air transportation in the dead of winter actually sucks gigantic ass?” he muses. “Not me, certainly.”

I smack his arm playfully. “C’mon, you’re glad you did it. Admit it.”

He glances down at me and smiles. “I’m glad to do anything with you. You’re my favorite, Ivy Contreras.”

My face warms and I smile back at him. “Is that so?”

“Yeah. Especially in that dress.” He peers down and shamelessly checks me out. “You look fucking incredible, by the way.”

I smooth a hand down the front of my dress. “You think? We could always run and grab the Mrs. Claus dress and I could wear that if you prefer.”

He presses his mouth to my ear and trails his fingers down my back and across the top of my ass. “This dress stays on until I peel it off of you later,” he whispers.

I erupt in a full-body shiver and bite back a moan as my center goes molten.

“Aren’t you getting ahead of yourself?” I whisper back as I run a finger down the center of his chest. I feel the muscles tighten as I trail over his hard belly. “We haven’t even kissed yet.”

He looks at me like he wants to eat me alive. “Oh, we’re going to, Ivy. We’ll get to all of it.”

I take a look around at the growing crowd. “How long do we have to stay?”

He smirks at me. “I was hoping we could have this conversation. How about—”

“Rudolph Carter!” someone calls out from behind us. We both spin around and I see a slight man with glasses advancing toward us, a beer clutched in his hand. By the look of the rosy flush on his cheeks, he’s been at it for a while.

“Hey, Alex,” Rudy says. A little stiffly, I notice. “Are you having a good time?”

“Great time, man,” he says as he gives Rudy a friendly slap on the back. “It’s good to take a day to unwind a little before things really start to get busy.”

What on earth does that mean? Busier than the Christmas season?

“Who’s this?” Alex asks, looking over at me. “I didn’t know you had a social life, Rudy.”

What a crappy thing to say, I think. I paste on a smile. “Hi, I’m Ivy Contreras,” I say and extend my hand.
