I was today years old when I found out my father isnât who he says he is.
The pent-up rage inside of me explodes, flames licking up my skin from my toes to my head. The invisible fire heating me, scorching me from the inside out.
âYou were never supposed to find out this way,â my dad says, backing up against the wall in his office.
I always thought this place was a joke.
The man who does the least gets the top floor office with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. Fuck him.
âWas I ever supposed to find out? Or was this fucking dealership supposed to be a front forever? The money that feeds our family, pays for our house; the money youâve used for every single thing in life ⦠it came from you taking advantage of other people? How can you even fucking look at yourself? Youâre basically pimping women out to line your fucking pockets. You make me fucking sick.â
The words physically pain me when they come out. But the heartbreak of learning my father has been whoring out women all over the United States to pay to have meals prepared for us, a maid service, and probably this entire dealership, let alone everything else weâve ever had ⦠itâs enough to make me want to kill him. What kind of a man does that?
âEverything youâve ever done has been a lie,â I grit out. âYour accomplishments, the awards and accolades, youâre nothing but a fucking fraud. And Iâve been following in your footsteps, none the wiser. Not anymore.â
Blind rage shoots through me.
Moments ago I found out my mother was just a pawn in his game.
My mother who just died of cancer was one of the women he fucking pawned out.
Used until she was no longer fit for the job and then kept her for himself.
And I learned in a letter she left for me that theyâd never had the fucking love I thought they had. She was kept under lock and key, under his thumb, until she succumbed to yet another disease eating away at her. The letter revealed everything and begged me to get away, to help myself. To save myself. She couldnât be honest with me until she was dead, for fear my father would retaliate and use me against her.
My rage grows until black circles dot my vision, and without even thinking of my next step, my feet begin to move. My subconscious places one foot in front of the other until Iâm pinning my father to the wall, repeatedly slamming his head against it.
âYou stupid sonofabitch!â I scream, not giving a damn if anyone below hears.
My father has always been a small man in both build and integrity, so I overpower him easily. I see nothing but the red, the black dots, feel nothing but the rage consuming every single inch of me. My mother. My dead fucking mother was his pawn, and I want him to pay for his sins against her.
I slam his head into the wall, all the while screaming obscenities in his face.
