The circular layout had glass cells around the whole edge. Seven glass cages were spaced evenly around her desk in the middle. I couldn’t imagine having prisoners in my office, but I wasn’t sick in the head like Serena.

Bailey wasn’t in any of them, though. She sat in the middle of the room, tied to a chair. My feet carried me swiftly to the weeping child before I took in the rest of the office.

“You’re going to be alright, Bailey. I’m a friend of your father,” I cooed into her ear as my hands worked her restraints.

She whimpered, fearing that I might be lying to her. Once I freed her, I put myself at her level in a crouch, letting her see the truth within my eyes. From her lineage, I had a feeling she’d be a rare, female Alpha like me.

“You know, he told me you like tea parties. I hope you don’t mind, but I had him promise me one when we got you out of here. Would that be okay?”

Relating to her, she responded to my kindness and familiarity. Once she nodded, I knew I had to have another hard moment. I couldn’t get her out of here right away, and I couldn’t send her into the battle below without protection.

“Bailey, can you do me a favor?”

She dipped her chin. I was honored she put her trust in me.

“I need you to hide under that desk, close your eyes, and cover your ears until I come for you. Can you do that? Maybe sing some songs to help pass by the time?”

An evil cackle sounded from behind me, near the entry. I found Serena within one of the cells behind the glass.

That exact laugh caused a flashback of the moment she gutted me. It was the very sound I heard when she pierced me with her blade.

Standing, I signaled Bailey to run as my father stepped beside me. Riley had my back, and I knew this would take both of us to defeat his Zevgos and my birth mother.

Pointing, Serena showed my mother was in a cell behind the desk. Unsure of her game, I knew I’d have to wait for Serena’s crazy rules. There were three cells between the women who were both considered my mothers.

Looking from the other direction, I saw the same number of cells from the other side of the door. Pressing a button on her remote, the cell by the door opened opposite her.

She was in the first cell on the right side of the door, and she opened the seventh one for me. I could already sense the direction this would be heading. Our cells were the two that didn’t have a conjoining one because the door separated them.

“You survived, Daughter. I didn’t give you or your Zevgos enough credit. Though, I was troubled when I found my Siren dead. She was my best asset.”

I didn’t move. Riley stiffened as well. I couldn’t imagine what this was doing to him. He told me his love for her was gone, but this monster still wore her face.
